Race by Stonestreet Stables | Training Graduate
Clairiere had big shoes to fill as the first foal out of multiple graded stakes winner Cavorting, and she more than delivered. The elegant Curlin filly earned her place among the best of her generation with eight wins, including four Grade 1 victories, and career earnings of $3,266,392.
She first announced her talent at three, capturing the G2 Rachel Alexandra Stakes and finishing second in the G2 Fair Grounds Oaks to earn her spot in the Kentucky Oaks. That race marked the beginning of a storied rivalry with fellow Stonestreet-bred and Curlin-sired filly Malathaat. The two would meet repeatedly at the top level—Clairiere finishing fourth in the Oaks and second in the G1 Alabama before breaking through with her first Grade 1 win in the Cotillion Stakes. She closed her sophomore season with a narrow runner-up finish in the G1 Breeders’ Cup Distaff.
At four, Clairiere turned the tables on Malathaat, defeating her in the G1 Ogden Phipps and G2 Shuvee Stakes before finishing third to her familiar rival in the Breeders’ Cup Distaff. Racing on at five, Clairiere added G1 victories in the Apple Blossom Handicap and a second consecutive Ogden Phipps, earning the 2023 Eclipse Award as Champion Older Dirt Female. She retired to the Stonestreet broodmare band at the end of the season.
Clairiere is by Curlin and out of Cavorting, a $2 million earner and six-time graded stakes winner. Cavorting has also produced Silverbulletday Stakes winner La Crete and the promising Judge Miller, a $550,000 Keeneland September yearling.
