Forest Music was bred by Twin Hopes Farm, and won her debut at 2 by 8 ½ lengths, making every pole.  She won the G3 Adena Stallions Miss Preakness Stakes first time back, scored in two other stakes that year, and was third in both the G1 Prioress and G1 Test Stakes.  At four, Forest Music won the Primonetta Stakes, placed third in the G2 Genuine Risk Handicap, then was sold privately to Stonestreet Stables.  In her next start, she won the G2 Honorable Miss Stakes wire to wire.

Her first foal was a special one. Maclean’s Music (2008 by Distorted Humor) was so well thought of that he was bought back for $900,000 as a yearling.  At three, he made his debut at Santa Anita over six furlongs, leading every step and winning by 7 ¼ lengths.  His 114 Beyer is the highest ever given to a debut winner.  A splint problem forced his retirement to Hill ‘n’ Dale Farms in 2013. At stud, Maclean’s Music produced Preakness Stakes winner Cloud Computing from his first crop.

Forest Music is a daughter of Unbridled’s Song, a great broodmare sire, with daughters producing G1 winners General Quarters, The Lumber Guy, Unbridled Command, J. B.’s Thunder, Rolling Fog, Better Than Ever, Once Were Wild and over 60 stakes winners.

Forest Music is a half-sister to G3 winner Shooter (by Dehere) and their dam is the stakes winner Defer West, a half-sister to G1 Mining.

Forest Music’s 2012 colt by Tiznow sold for $610,000 to Fox Hill Farm and is named Kentuckian. Kentuckian earned TDN Rising Star status in his first start:

Forest Music’s 2015 filly by Curlin, named Electric Forest, won the G3 Doubledogdare Stakes and was second in the G3 Rampart Stakes.

In 2017, Forest Music delivered a handsome colt by Uncle Mo who sold for $250,000 at the 2018 Keeneland September Sale. Later named Uncle Chuck, he would go on to win his debut in commanding fashion, drawing away to win by seven lengths. He then immediately stepped into graded stakes company and conquered the G3 Los Alamitos Derby, earning 20 points towards the Kentucky Derby.
