Race by Stonestreet Stables LLC | Training Graduate
Cavorting was brilliant at two, three, and four, graduating from one of the best sprint fillies of her crop to a multiple Grade 1 winner over middle distances. Bred in Kentucky by Swettenham Stud, she was purchased by Stonestreet for $360,000 at the 2012 Keeneland November Sale and trained by Kiaran McLaughlin.
Cavorting burst onto the scene with an 11-length maiden win, followed by victory in the G2 Adirondack Stakes. At three, she perfected her late-running style with wins in the Jersey Girl, G1 Longines Test, and G2 Prioress Stakes. Stretching out as a four-year-old, she dominated the G2 Ruffian by five lengths and added back-to-back Grade 1 victories in the Ogden Phipps and Personal Ensign, defeating Curalina, Forever Unbridled, and I’m a Chatterbox in her final start.
By Bernardini, sire of over a dozen Grade 1 winners, Cavorting is out of Promenade Girl (by Carson City), a G2 winner and G1-placed mare who also produced G2 Penn Mile winner Moon Colony and multiple stakes-placed Thirstforlife.
Cavorting’s brilliance continued in the breeding shed. Her first foal, Clairiere (by Curlin), became a four-time Grade 1 winner, capturing the Cotillion, Apple Blossom, and back-to-back editions of the Ogden Phipps Stakes. The 2023 Eclipse Champion Older Dirt Female, Clairiere earned over $3.3 million and retired as one of Curlin’s finest daughters. Cavorting’s daughter La Crete (by Medaglia d’Oro) won the Silverbulletday Stakes.
