Like his sire Bernardini, Wilburn made his first start as a 3-year-old when he broke his maiden in his debut at Santa Anita Park in March of 2011, besting the field by a strong 3 ¼ lengths.

Out of the Carson City mare, Moonlight Sonata, and bred by Woodbridge Bloodstock, Wilburn had a break-out performance when he took the 2011 Smarty Jones Stakes at Parx before traveling to Hoosier Park to score a confident victory in the $500k G2 Indiana Derby over the classy company of Shackleford and multiple G1 winner, Caleb’s Posse.

In his first crop to race, three-year-olds of 2016, Wilburn sired G3 Clasico Jorge Ameglio winner Uxia P and the stakes-placed Berniestrike and Will Be Magical.
